large nipples

my female cat had kittens 8 weeks ago .they have stopped feeding from mum but her nipples have swelled and are hard .

Your female cat is reabsorbing the left over milk.  It is normal for her mammaries to get large and hard while this is going on (this is called "packing up").  This should last only a couple of weeks and she should be back to normal.
