QUESTION: It would not let me last time. :)

Answer
Ok, most cats do not fit within a "breed." Mixed breed and "domestic cats" constitute the greater percentage of catdom. From your description, I'd say your kitty is a "DSH black male" which is not a breed but a color pattern description. (DLH stands for "domestic longhair.") He could be a mixed breed too. Possibly part Bombay or Chausie.
Generally speaking, unless you purchased a cat from a breeder and have pedigree papers to prove it, the cat is not a "breed," but a domestic cat.

Here is a good article about Breeds:

Where did you get your cat from? If you can trace family origin, you may be able to find out more about him.
I had a 20 pound pure black, large-boned shorthair with yellow eyes. His mother is a 10 pound pure small-boned, black shorthair with blue eyes. It's very hard to tell from just looking sometimes.

Next time you're at the vet, ask him as well.

Whatever lineage he has, he is gorgeous and obviously loves to pose for photos and have fun. You're lucky to have such a sweet boy!
Take care!
