Question
Hi!  I have a male cat who had a Himalayan mother and unknown father.  He is grey and fluffy somewhere between long and short haired with a brown tinge and tabby stripes.  He was one year old in July and weighs about 13/14 lbs.  People visiting think he looks fat.  What is a reasonable weight for a cat.  He is an indoor cat as well and only eats about 2/3's a cup of cat food or less per day.  Also, he is very affectionate in the morning (we close him in a separate room for the night) and after we have been out and return home.  Other than that he resists being held or touched although he likes to be in the same room as us.  Is there any way to make him more affectionate?  Thanks in advance for your reply!  Charlene

Answer
ok first of all the weight issue. keep in mind that your boy has lots of hair. if he is also long in body and tall in body he does not weigh too much. he will eventually when he is older start to loose weight. so no he is not fat. i am confused as to why you lock him up all by himself at night, but that is your business. if you want him to be more affectionate you will have to pick him up and love on him more often. rub him the way he likes it and get him purring and get him used to having the affection and he will soon crave it more. why dont you try letting him in your bedroom with you at night. you may find he will sleep with you and become even more attached to you.
