Question
Ok, its been one week now. The 2 new kitties are moving around a lot in my bedroom, well actually the girl is.  She will come out to see me and the other cats when they come in the room.  The boy cat comes out at night, and I have seen him about 3 times for about 30 seconds each.  The cats are hissing a little at each other.  I left my door open to see is Chrystal would venture out, but not yet. When will I know when its ok for them to all be together.  I guess they will let me know, as they will not leave my bedroom yet. Any info you can give me will help.

Question -
I have two one year old cats, and now I just got the 2 siblings of one of my cats. Altogether, 2 boys, 2 girls.  All neutered and spayed.  The 2 new ones are in a separate room, one is in my bed, under the mattress literally, and one is under the bed on the floor, male and female. They won't come out to eat, or see me. ITs only been one day, what should I do?  Just leave the new ones alone?

Hi Debby,

Yes, leave them be for a few days.  Put a litter box , food and water in there, and give them some time to get used to their new home.  Cats do NOT like change. It stresses them out and it is showing by their actions.  I would go in there and talk softly to them ever now and then, but mainly just let them get used to everything.  Hopefully, they will start moving around in the room in a day or so, and maybe sniffing under the door at the other cats.  This would be good as they can all get used to each other's "smells".  It may take some time, but with patience it will work out.
I have a similar story. I rescued a Chinese Crested dog that was scared to death.  She stayed under my bed for three months!!  I would take her food and water, and make her come out to go potty outside, but afterward she would run straight back to my bedroom and get back under the bed.  We just left her alone and let her have her space.  One night, while we were in the living room watching tv, all of the sudden she appeared.  We were afraid to breathe!  LOL  Ever since she has become one of the most affectionate dogs I have.  She loves me and is such a sweetheart.  They just have to learn to trust you and to get used to a new home. So, hopefully you won't have to wait three months, but I think you will eventually end up with four pals running through your house like a herd of elephants!!

God Bless,
Becky

Answer
Hi again Debby!
Sounds like so far so good.  I would leave the door open for periods of time each day, and maybe a little longer each day.  Let them interact and see how they do. You can expect some hissing and growling, but unless one just attacks the other to "KILL" then I would just let them get to know each other.  As I told you before, it's all about the scent.... and your other cats know they are here.  So, give it a try... let them get together, but only if supervised at first to make sure all is well.

Good luck!
