Burmese cats

Question
Dear Norman
I work from home, and would like to get 2 European Burmese kittens for company! The cats I've had before have not been pedigree cats, but after meeting and knowing a few Burmese cats belonging to neighbors, I have fallen in love! However, I would like your opinion on their attention requirements. I work from home every day, and of course when they are new kittens can give them all the time they need - but as they get past the first few weeks, do you think it is realistic to expect to be able to work from home with two Burmese about the house?
I do computer-based research and I'm at home all day, but I do have to work hard! I don't know anyone with Burmese cats who works from home, so I haven't been able to find out from anyone how difficult it might be.

Secondly, when getting two Burmese cats as companions, do you have any recommendations about which sexes they should be: I was intending to get one boy, one girl - but would like to know whether any particular combination works better than any other.

Thank you very much.

Answer
Harriet,

Burmese are very, very active cats and even more active kittens. Getting two is a good idea as they will occupy each other.  However, when you are working you may want to keep them out of your office, if at all possible.  Also, cat hair and computers are not the best combination, so, if they are around the computers, you will have to open up the machines every once in a while and make sure there is not cat hair inside.

As to which sexes to get for the two, I feel that once they are neutered/spayed, it does not really matter.

Best regards... Norm.
