Question
I have 3 year old Patch, her daughter 2 year old Fly and her son 9 week old Bertie McRuffle. Patch has been living in our basement and garden since Fly had her kittens as Fly kept chasing her away. Bertie is now 9 weeks old and is shut in our bedroom to stop Fly lactating. I have opened the basement door but Fly is still chasing Patch off. I thought maybe I could put Fly in the basement and bring Patch in with Bertie until Fly has stopped producing milk and has been spayed. I am at a loss as to what to do for the best and I want all the cats to be able to live with each other. CAN YOU HELP?

Answer
Hi Wendy,

You have got the right idea there. Switch places for a day or two. This will get them used to each others scent again. Bring Fly out of the basement in a carrier and see how they react. If there is no problem let her out. If there is keep on moving them back. Rub each one with a cloth to transfer their scent. Make sure you get the tush area when you do this. Get a product called Feliway. it acts as a kitty tranquilizer. After a week all should be back to normal. Good luck.

Ciao, Karen
