Is that rigght.. Please help. He hasnt gone for the whole day, but keeps going to the litter box.. Thankyou

ANSWER: First off, provide your kitten with LOTS of clean, fresh water. NO MILK. Wash the bowl and dry it before each and every filling.
Dehydration is what normally causes kitten constipation.

Try mixing a tablespoon of canned pumpkin into your kitten's food. The pumpkin acts as a stool softener and should help clear up your kitten's constipation in less then 24 hours.
Make sure that the can of pumpkin you are using is pureed pumpkin, NOT pumpkin pie filling.
You can buy cans of it at Whole Foods or buy regular pumpkins and cut them up.
The problem with using pumpkin as a laxative is that some kittens won't touch their food with the pumpkin mixed in. Don't force your cat to eat it.
Mix it with moist kitten food with water in it.

Consult your veterinarian. Prolonged constipation can wreck havoc on your kitten's mental and physical health. If the constipation goes on for more then 24 hours, you need to take your kitten to the veterinarian. Don't expect your vet to simply prescribe a laxative. He will perform a complete health exam so that he can determine the cause of your kitten's constipation.

Talk to your veterinarian about adding fiber to your kitten's diet. Sometimes adding a little fiber to your cat's diet is all that is needed to clear up her constipation. You will need to get the exact dosage from your veterinarian.

QUESTION: I tryed the pumpkin and he likes it. I  give it to him three times today. I also  am trying to force him to drink water with a dropper. I have been able to get a little down..  hes frisky, playful still . urinates alot but still nothing. Once he  eats I am trying to stimulate him with a cotton ball and warm water as the mother would do with her tongue.. I have done that twice today and still nothing..  Am i on the right track. should i continue the pumpkin for another day since he seems fine or is that letting me know something else is probably wrong.. Thank you for your answers..

Answer
Continue this for a couple more days and if he still won't go, take him to the vet. it could be a bowel problem and he may need an antibiotic for it.
In normal constipation cases the pumpkin will do the trick. If it doesn't, then just like you would if you couldn't go to the bathroom, he has to see a doctor.

It's a good sign that he is urinating though. That shows that he is not as dehydrated as before.

Let me know what happens. I'm praying for your sweet baby boy!
