Question
Since Hawkeye(dog above)has been about 2yrs.he has had this ear thing going on. The vet. said about the ear canal shape. But, what he prescibes each time,I get it from him,is a water and peroxide ? ear wash, and a onitment. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST. It always comes back he is 10 now! I once used people peroxide and polysporin and it was good for a longer time. I'm afraid it is to harsh for him, liquid in the ear is the problem so why use a liquid? ALSO, CAN IT CAUSE HIS EYE TO GET RED + CLOUDY,LIKE A CATARACT,IS IT EXPENSIVE TO HAVE THE EYE FIXED?

Answer
There is no realtionship between an ear infection and a cataract.

As far as his ear infections, I would have to know what type of infection it is before I can tell you what you should do.  There are many reasons for ear diseases, but allergies seem to top the list.

I always like to keep the ear clean using a vinegar and boric acid mixture called Malacetic Otic (www.dermapet.com)daily for 7-10 days then once or twice a week.
