Hamster Paw Problem

Question
I have two hamsters who have developed a sore which looks like a red scab about 1/4 " in diameter on one paw.  I have tried treating it with Neosporin but this has not helped.  It is somewhat swollen and they have had it for a long time and it does not seem to bother them.  Any ideas about how to get it to go away?

Answer
As I mentioned in my profile I am not a hamster expert so I defer people to Heather who is.

Her link is here:

Having said that, if they both have something that is the same on each of them then it isn't a sore, but most likely a thumb or finger that is smaller and that is normal. A hamsters paw isn't even a 1/4 wide so that has to be a part of the foot. I am guessing since I am not an expert- you should ask Heather.
