Dog Bite

Question
My 9 week old female pitbull was attacked by a strange dog outside. It bite her on the top of the head and inside of the mouth underneath her left eye. He eye ball is bulged out and she cannot blink. We are rinsing it and have an ice pack on her head as well as covering her up to keep her from going into shock. None of our local vets will see her because we only have fifty dollars so is there anything I can do to take the swelling down or to make sure her eye will be ok?

Answer
She will lose her eye if you don't get her in to see a vet. She will develop a nasty infection in there from the bite and that will do it in if the dog bite itself hasn't already done so. The bite to head of a 9 week old dog is very serious and she may even have some damage to more than her eye from it.

She is going to need some antibiotics and some work done on her eye to save it. Isn't there a vet there that does credit or hardship cases? Even in my small town we have one that does that.

Pool your resources and call every vet in a 30 mile radius. Try to find the owner of the other dog also and report it to animal control. If they find the owner you can try and get them to pay for it.

Eyes are serious issues and we always, always recommend the vet see them. I hope you can get her some help soon.
