My dogs feet

Question
DEAR DR. ELLEN CAROZZA

I adopted a dog from a shelter a few years ago. After we adopted her we found out she had
demodectic mange which was treated with mitiban dips. Once she started the dips she starting biting between the pads on the bottom of her feet
she gets them swollen and sometimes makes them bleed. This seems worse if her feet get wet or in the spring and summer.   Her mange has been cleared up for 2 years now  but if you have any thoughts on why she would do this to her feet and if you have any suggestions on what I can do for her I would sure appreciate it.

                           Thank you so much

Answer
Hi Kim!

Have you spoken to your vet about enviormental allergies? even contact dermatitis?

Your best bet would be to take her into the vet when she is having an episode to see how bad it is. Some vets do give steriods such as pred to decrease the swelling and redness.

Hope this helps some!
