Im trying to teach my dog...

Question
I'm trying to teach my dog beg, but I can only think of one way to do it,
and it doesn't work.  I tried telling her to sit, then lifting her front
legs up, but she growls at me, and sometimes snaps at me.  How can I teach
her beg?

Hi there!  Nothing is cuter than a dog begging!  I have a little Shih Tzu and what worked for training him to beg was by having him sit, letting him sniff a treat and then raising it just above his reach.  He would lift his front paws to reach it and as he would do that, I would say the word "Beg" and let him have the treat.  Doing this consistantly and using the word "Beg" should result in your dog begging without the treat.
