Questionwhen he was a puppy, i was told to wash his face after he ate, i have changed his food thinking it was an allergy. then as an adolestent i was told he just had acne. it would clear up with antibiotics. this has not been a constant problem, but now, the bumps are infected and bleeding some. yes he drools alot. my vet has just put him on clindemyacin i am washing his face with ivory soap and rinsing after he eats, 2 time a week i am washing with malaceb shampoo, and 3 times a day i am using malacetic wipes. i just started all of this. this morning i put gold bond powder on his chin & upper lips. HELP PLEASE.
AnswerYou are doing all of the right things. You are treating for bacterial and yeast infection of the chin (chin acne), but sometimes when they do not respond, they actually have demodex mange. Ask your vet to do a skin scraping or even a skin biopsy to see if that is why he is not responding.
