inner ear infection -- dog

Question
What can I do to treat an apparant - very painfull inner ear infection in our dog.
  It started yesterday morning
  severe pain upon movement
  loss of hearing
  no interest in food
  stays on cold floor but little sign of fever
  sleeps with head raised on chair rail

Answer
There is not much you can do to treat this if it is otitis media.  Take the dog to the vet for an exam and a culture to see which antibiotic may help.  The eardrum may be ruptured, so the middle ear needs to be flushed out.  Painful ears require pain medication and steroids.
