female beta and unfertilized eggs

Question
My female beta fish is eating her unfertilized eggs.  Is that normal?  And if we do breed her with a male beta fish than how do care for the fry? Also I can see a white egg looking thing sticking out from what looks like her stomach.

Answer
hey taylor,
I'm am sure it is normal for her to eat her unfertalized eggs. She probably sees it as food becasue they are small.

Mollies actually eat their BABIES! eek! and it is normal...so im sure eggs aren't abnormal.

the white looking thing is probably another egg, unless it has been there for a while and isn't going away.  it probably has to do with her laying the eggs but it could be something else, so if it lasts for a while then start looking for something it could be.

as for breeding, I have never personally done it so I don't want to give you incorrect information. I was going to do it but I heard it was a lot of work and difficult to raise and feed the babies. They sell books on bettas in pet stores, which will help you a ton. I have bought books on other fish and animals and they help you sooo much more than you think they will. they will tell you anything you need to know on how to breed them, how to raise the young, how to feed them, and tank setup. its great and i definatly reccommend it.

i hope this at least helps you out a little bit, i couldnt help you a whole lot but i didnt want to just reject your question, i wanted to at least tell you what i do know.

i hope you raise some healthy happy fish! i wish you the best of luck in breeding!
Best wishes, chelsey
