Question
I have a 75 gallon freshwater tank with a wide assortment of fish from electric blue and yellow cichlids to clown loaches to mono sedaes and no live plants. I am looking to get a new lighting system for it right now I have a old jbj 48in 4X65 watt powercompact with two 65 watt 6700k in the front and two 65 watt actinic in the rear but the two in the rear quit working and yes I am sure it is not the bulbs. My question is for a freshwater tank set up like mine should I get the a newer setup like I have or do I need a less powerful lighting system

Answer
Hi Brian,
You definitely don't need the actinic bulbs and I'm sure the current working ones are more than sufficient for your aquarium setup. Especially since you have no live plants. Actinic bulbs are often used for marine aquarium setups. And I think your aquarium will be just fine with the current lighting setup.

I hope this helps!
