Question
Nori im sorry if you got confused but you had answered this overly extended question:

" Over the past year my toad and newt tank with just 4 inches of water as evolved into a tank with 7 1/2 inches of water. The Tank's normal size is 30 gallons of water and the complete height of it is 16 inches. There is still some land for my toad and newt in the top right hand part which it roughly 1/4 of the area but there are caves i made under the land so the fish have almost all the area. Now the fish i keep in my tank are five: 2 dwarf corydoras about 1 - 1 1/2 inches each, 2 dwarf puffer fish which combined equal about 1 - 1 1/2 inches, and a 2 inch goby. Then i decided to get a green cobra guppy and it hit me... my other fish arent that colorful besides a black spot to go with there grey... So now i want to get a school of three guppies so i went to get a powder blue guppy and unfortionately for him my cobra guppy didnt like him to much... needless to say he died. Now then the reason you had to endure my stupid story is to give you a better idea of where im at. Now heres my question. To my understanding guppies were a schooling fish, but then why would mine kill the new one. It came to my attention of course after the fact i got the new fish that you must get all your fish of the same species at ounce or they would kill eachother. I want to ask you if this is true, and if i traded in my cobra guppy for a new one and started over with a new trio of guppies if they would kill eachother. If this is indeed true that the fish would kill eachother if not put in all at ounce then why was it when i got my 2nd corydoras that my other one not only did not try to kill him but became extremely happy and is almost always swimming with him. Anyway thats the first question. Now ive been harrassed so much by my uncle that i have to many fish before i even got the guppy. He says the ratio of inch of fish to gallons of water is 1 inch to every gallon. However, I heard else where it was 1 inch to every 1/2 gallon. Please tell me if I have to many fish and if i could get my dreamed trio of fancy guppy ( and how many other fish i could get for that matter). By the way if you need to know my newt is about 2 - 2 1/2 inches and the toad is about an inch but he is a fat toad. Anyway i checked my PH and it is 7 I also have quite a bit of plants so they help it alot plus i plan to get more plants. I also wanted to get a decant sized shrimp but im not sure if my goby will pick at it or if it would try to eat the fish or just pick at there fins. Well sorry for being long winded, but i figured im better off asking you all of this now instead of sending 30 consecutive emails. I hope your 40 years of experience can help me.
PS: if you know a nice web site or magazine or something like that where i can look at all differant species of fish with nice colors id appreciate it if you told me. Well hope to hear from you soon"

The question i sent you just recently was:
something must have happened though cus when i got a answer it only said:

P.S. If I didn't address all your questions in my reply, please write back again.

sorry if i confused you but thats the only reply i had recieved for my last question

Question: Well Nori its me again. Thanks for that website it really helped. Alot happened over the last few days. For one my Green cobra guppy finished off the blue guppy. That didnt suprise me, but sadly one of my puffers was sucked into a small crack hole in my pump. I found him squished into it. Poor little guy... Im not sure if I should get another one though... On the one hand my other puffer might want company. On the other hand he might kill a new one plus he always bossed that puffer around. So im not sure if i should even bother getting a new one. Do you think the puffer actually cares if he has a mate? I really dont wanna watch another fish killed by the other, and plus i have some more fish space to add a differant fish. Do you think I should bother getting a new one, and if other puffer would just be happy by himself. Also I have a second 10 gallon tank that i keep a crewfish in (I really wanted a cobalt blue lobster but i jumped the gun and bought this guy) my cousin also had a ten gallon tank with a 3 inch corydoras and 3 bala sharks... just a little over kill. Well the three sharks died after about 2 weeks the funny thing was they all died at the same time. Well he was stucked with this cory and he really wanted to change his tank to salt water and get sea horses so i took his corydoras. Well the creyfish being a stupid mean crustation wont stop nipping his fins and they are in pretty bad shape. The only alternative i have is to put him in a 3 gallon container originally meant for putting thanks giving salad in. Do you think he will even heal from these (and i mean badly bitten up fins) wounds and even if he does can he survive in this tiny space? One more thing and then ill shut up. You probably wouldnt know but before i dial long distance to find out do you think a fish store will let me trade in a (in good shape now) green cobra guppy for another green cobrea guppy so that i can get a new batch of 2-3 guppies at ounce in order for them not to be territorial. I dought you would know but i figured id just ask. Well hope to be reading from you soon.
P.S. the newt i got was a fire bellied newt and luckily mine never tried to climb out of the tank, but he was a pain to feed since i gave him crickets. I had to almost stuff to cricket in his mouth so that he would finally bite it. Of course now I get worms for the fish so i dont really have to give him crickets anymore. Well im gonna shut up before you fall asleep. cya"

Answer
Hi Lou,
Here is my answer that might have gotten erased.

Hi Lou,
Thank you for your letter. Sorry to hear about the puffer. Sometimes those
little critters just meet a bad end. I don't think your other puffer will
miss having a mate.
re. fins. They do grow back. I think if you get the fish in his own place,
he will regenerate the damaged fins. Maybe you could get a small tank. You
don't have to get a heater, at least, because summer is coming up.
For now, I would advise you to not get anymore fish until the home
situation becomes stable. You know, if the boat is rocking, don't rock it
even more. Once things settle down, you can do a recon mission and see if
anything needs to be changed. I would say to wait at lest six months with
no deaths/mayhem/destruction and see where things stand by then.
Please stay in contact.
