Cloud Fish

Question
About 4 years ago I bought a small (I think about 2 gallons) tank and 6 Cloud Fish. I am now left with three. Is it right that this type of fish should be kept in larger groups. I would love to increase the number to 6 again however the remaining three have been together 4 years now and I would be concerned about introducing new fish. What do you think? Also one of my fish has a really large tummy. Is this down to over eating? Thanks.

Answer
Hi Rach,
Hmm... Well, White clouds can do great in groups of three but they'd love to be in larger groups and a larger tank would be awesome too to give them more room to swim!

But keeping up with water changes and light feedings you can keep a few more in the 2 gallon. I don't think there would be a problem introducing a few more fish. But I'd try to get three so the newcomers would be sure to have "buddies" to hang with. I think the resident white clouds might investigate them for a little while but then accept them into their group.

As for the big bellied one. Sometimes that is a female who is swollen with eggs, she'll either lay them or reabsorb them back. And then sometimes its just a white cloud who had too much too eat!

I hope this helps!
Karen~
