Question
Just got son aquarium done all the things the book says fill it before hand treat the water first etc so put 6 neons in it today and another three tiny fish (cant remember the name) and within a couple of hours they all died - is the water too hot 80 degrees if it is what temperature should it be.  Tank is foot and a half.

Answer
The ideal temperature for most freshwater tropical fish is be between 76 and 80 degrees F.  You have somthing else affecting it, sounds like somthing is polluting the water and killed your fish. Did you clean it with any toxins.. soap, windex... Your water is definately toxic to them for some reason if they all died within a couple hours. Read up on how to "cycle" your aquarium aswell. you can read a article on it here: http://www.firsttankguide.net/cycle.php
