clear aquarium dividers

Question
Rachel
trying to divide my 20 gal tank to make a home for my second betta

have tried the retail plastic sheet dividers but they are flimsy, become opaque and don't really have enough venting to permit circulation
do you ahve any suggestions
found an egg crate grill for fluorescnt light fixtures which I was hoping would work out - but unfortunately the drill opening is too large and it allows the betta to swim through.
hoped this was the solution because it would allow the smaller community fish to have full use of the aquarium and also enable unrestricted water circulation and heating.

do you have any suggestions?
much appreciated

Answer
Well, the only idea I could think of would be a plastic mesh. Plastic because metal may cause high levels of harmful elements. While the plastic mesh may be alittle flimsy too, you could re-inforce it with strong plastic strips, like the strips on the back of glass canopy's, just cut smaller. This would also provide water movement and heating to go through. Other than a plastic mesh, which is probably similar to the store made ones, I do not know. On the other hand, you could always get another tank. Doesnt have to be big for a betta and you could have another beautiful tank in another area of the house. Try looking at a home improvement store and see what you might find. Sorry I didnt have any other ideas. I have never divided tanks, I simply bought more. Hehe, I enjoy having more than one tank. At the biggining it costs a bit more but in the end its such a stress reliever and provides a beautiful decor option. Let me know if you have any more questions or if you discover something which works.
