Question
Hi Karen.
I have just bought a 42 inch, by 24, by 14 inch tank. It holds 200 ltrs. How best to heat it is my Q. Would you rec 2 heaters, one at either end and a therm in the middle, or 2 heat/therm combis. Or indeed, just one big heater therm unit. Many thanks. Dave

Answer
Hi Dave,
With your size tank I've gotten by just fine with using one heater that is rated for tanks of that size. Or you can two heaters that both are rated at a wattage that when they are added up together they equal to one big heater. This method insures that the heat is for sure distributed evenly throughout the tank and an added plus is if one heater goes out the other will be just enough to keep the tank from cooling down.

I'm estimating that your tank is around 50 gallons or so. One good quality heater will be plenty enough for your tank. I believe that tanks of 100 gallons or more probably should have 2 heaters. One thing is to make sure you get a quality heater. If you can find them, "Visa-therm" brand heaters are the best ones I have found by far. They are long lasting and extremely good quality.

I really hope this helps!
Happy holidays,
Karen~
