nitrite to nitrate

how long does it take for ammonia to get to nitrite and can I buy any bacteria to convert nitrite to nitrate  or anything else I can do

Hello,

How many fish you have in your aquarium and how much waste there is will affect how long it takes for the ammonia to become nirites. It can take anywhere from a week or two to a month.

There is actually a product called Cycle which adds beneficial bacteria to your aquarium and helps speed up the nitrogen cycle. I highly recommend it for new aquariums and for weekly maintenance.
