spotted tails

I have 2 gold fish and a black moore (the other died today) and I just noticed that they all have little whie spots on their tails, what is this and how do i stop it before they all die? thanks

Do the white spots look like grains of salt, or are they white cottony patches? Do they look slimy? It could be a lot of things... If they look like grains of salt it is most likely Ich. Ich is easily treated with aquarium salt, depending what other fish you have in your tank? If the patches look slimy or cottony it's most likely a fungus which can be treated with an anti-fungal that can be found at your local pet supply store. If it's fungus, be on guard for other issues. Fungus is often times a secondary infection brought on by many things to include internal parasites and poor water quality.
