Question
A while ago, like, Novemberish, I bought two mollies from Petco. One was a pretty orange balloon molly, the other is a black balloon molly. Fifteen days later, the pretty orange (male) molly bit the dust. Black (female) molly kept gettin fatter and fatter and now she has a little pinkish bulb with a white cap on the end of it, and it is coming out of the orfice above her anus... I don't know if it is a cloaca, an ovipositor, a vagina..but it's her lady part.   DOES THIS MEAN SHE'S GONNA HAVE A FRY?! that'd be neat...   or is she going to bite the dust, too?

thank you so much!
Johanna

Answer
Hi,
Firstly, you have to rule out overfeeding as a cause for her growth in size. Feed her once a day, if you feed flake food, just 3 or 4 flakes, if it's just her in the tank. If you have more fish, feed a few more, but never more than 7-8. Every week, feed her live bloodworms, brineshrimp or daphnia, and every now and then feed her boiled cucumber, or shelled and boiled peas.
I would be concerned about the bulb, that is not part of the pregnancy in Mollies. If it does not disappear within a few days, please try to give me a picture, and I will try to find out what it is for you, so you can get treatment.
If it is not caught quite early, whatever it is I'm fairly sure it could be fatal.
I hope she gets better, and you get the fry you want!
Good luck,
Kathryn
