Question
QUESTION: I have a 29 gal. tank with two filters running. the temp. is steady around 80/27. the first thing i want to say is the tank have a lot of fish in it. i was told that if you have to filters running you can put more fish in the tank. is that right? Anyway get ready. i have two large angels, 8 small angels, 4 babies, 2 clown loaches, 2 small rams, 2 silver tip sharks, and some corys. I have had a major problem with the angels being ichy. one of my zebra angels is in big trouble. he stays at the top of the tank and goes in a circle with the water. now today i noticed that he has a big white strip on him. hes feces is white. these white spots ive been trying to to get rid of for months. my large black angel has had it but after a week it is gone. i have tried a lot of different meds melfix, baktopur,etc.. but nothing seems to work. i also noticed that on the bottom of the tank there are clear spots all over the bottom of the tank closer to the rocks. is these a fungas, bacterial infection, internal etc.. please i need everyones help! if in helps the ph is between 6.5 and 7 amonnia is fine nitrate fine and i also use 1 level tablespoon per 5 gallons of aquarium salt. again HELP?

ANSWER: Hi Patty:  ok... first of all you are going to have to thin that tank down.  You have too many fish and they are getting to the sick.  Healthy fish should fight off Ich, velvet, etc.  Do you clean the gravel????   if not you will need to clean the gravel and the tank.  You need to find a medicne that has Malachinte Green as its active ingrediant.   please keep me posted in your fishes condition... dave

QUESTION: have dave, thanks for the advise. i do clean the gravel with a gravel vac. do you recommend a certain med.? and the to filters doesn't mean you can put more fish in the tank? thanks patty

Answer
Hi Patty:  There are a lot of medicines out there for fish these days... I don't really know the name of just one that has Malachite green as its active ingredient... If you go to an aquarium... not a pet store... you should find one... The other thing that has been bugging me... is the wide variety of fish that you keep... Some are scaleless like the loach and the shark... some like a low pH like the Rams... but the angels should do better with a higher pH 7.0-8.0.  The Rams are fragile so I find it odd that they are ok but the angels are sick... Crank the temp up to about 88 degrees... slowly ... one degree per hour.  Keep an eye on the sharks though... they are not going to like that... I honestly think you are going to have to separate those angelfish from the rest of them.  Let me know what happens... dave
