Question
QUESTION: i have a 55 gallon tank the top frame middle support is craked and coming apart, when filling up with it gets worse i want to replace the frame but dont know how or where to order one can you help? thanks, larry

ANSWER: Larry,
Any independent Pet Shop should be able to get one for you with no trouble.
I am not sure of ordering one from the box stores but you certainly could check.
All you need to tell them is the size of the tank.

QUESTION: hi is this a easy fix? will it be hard too replace?

Answer
Easy enough.
remove the old frame, be careful not to crack or chip the glass.
You can break it off in pieces or sometimes it lifts up once you get it started.
Once the frame is removed you will need a razorblade scraper to remove the residual silicone on the glass.
After you have done that, wipe the glass where the new frame is to go with alcohol to remove any film left from the silicone.
fill the channels in the new frame with aquarium silicone, do not fill them to the top, a bead approx. the size of a marking pen with a little extra in the corners will do.
Set the frame on the tank, either lay a sheet of plywood or similar on top of the tank and weigh it down to press the frame into place or simply invert the tank.
That is what I do.
After 24 hours you are good to go, sooner than that if its an emergency you can get away with 4-6hrs enough to let it skin over well.
Not as bad as it sounds.
