Constipation?

Question
Hello Corrina,

My Ryukin, Marilyn Manson, has been floating upside down at the top of the
tank since Sun, July 29th. He hasn't been having any noticeable "movements"
so I went ahead and started fasting him, besides a couple of green peas he
gets once a day, but the sink and he doesn't/can't go after them. Thurs, Aug
2nd I started with an antibiotic in the take for fish bloat (he looks awfully
bloated, like he has a little beer belly). Since then, he moves better, but
doesn't go to the bottom. This morning I noticed he has been having
"movements" ( I noticed them stuck to the intake tube and floating in the
water.) However, he is still "going" and still floating. I was just wondering if
you agree with the constipation theory and how long you think it might be
before he returns to normal. He has no symptoms of disease (scale bulging,
eye "popping" or cloudiness, fin rot, spots, stripes, lines, ick or trouble
swimming, breathing, moving his fins, etc.) He has a slimey coat, and I have
tried epsom salt and 25% water changes. I had the water quality checked and
it is fine. I am worried that even if it is constipation, that he will continue to
swim upside down. It drives me crazy and I don't know how much longer I can
put up with it. I am desperately seeking help, advice, suggestions, anything
you can give. I appreciate  it so very, very much. Thank You.

Answer
It sounds like swim bladder disorder. However when treating swim bladder you did everything your supposed to do so i have a feeling it could be chronic. Meaning your fish may have to live this way for the rest of it's life. I am sorry there isn't anything i can do.
