Tetra and plecos

Question
Earlier I asked you about my red eye tetra with brown blisters on it. Now here's a link to the picture: http://www.geocities.com/anna_fritschi/fungus.bmp

I gave him a salt dip this morning and I haven't noticed any changes yet.

Also, I wanted to tell you that I was concerned about my two plecos (common and bushy nosed about 4"). I have noticed some tears in their fins that occurred over the past few weeks. I was not concerned at first, but they have yet to heal. These are in my 35 gallon tank, which has had a very low ammonia and nitrate concentration as of late. Both plecos have a solid diet of aquatic plants, drift wood, and pleco pellets. Here's a picture of where the tears in their fins are occuring (the red lines mark the spots): http://www.geocities.com/anna_fritschi/plecoprob.bmp

I have not seen the plecos act territorial towards one another over the past couple months I've had them together, and I am providing them with plenty of nooks and crannies to hid into.

There is no discoloration or different texture on the edges of the tears in their fins.

Do you have any ideas?

Thanks!

Answer
Anna,
the pic is a bit general but I think if you wanted you could add a general antibiotic as a preventative measure.
Continue the salt dips on the tetra as long as he tolerates it well.
As far as the plecos, there may be things going on when youi cannot be there to watch.\
However if there is no "fuzzy" growth on the fins, or slimey looking areas then don;t worry too much, fins will grow back.
Let me know how it goes.
