Transfering

Question
I'm wondering what are the steps to transfering my three goldfish to a new, bigger tank? I want to make everything in the tank new including gravel and decoration, I heard this was a bad idea? The fish have been in their current tank for about one year.  Thanks for helping!

Hi Samantha:  To transfer your goldfish... set up the new tank and if possible use some or most of your old water to help the tank cycle properly.  Once the new tank is set up and the water chemistry are within normal range then just net the goldfish and transfer them to their new tank... you want to make sure though that before you move the fish that the two tanks have a similar temperature... going from a cold tank to a warm tank and vice versa is deadly to fish... hope this helps... dave
