Question
i have three black moores and i have one which recently got ick and is also frequently constipated. i tested the water but the ph tester is kind of hard to read(can you recommend something that doesn't rely on color coding charts) according to what it seems to say is that the levels are only about 6.6. i've had these fish for about four months. i use dechlorinators and and all the other water conditioners i also use a ph corrector(correct ph by jungle). i used ick clearing medications that didn't seem to do anything, i also put more foods into there diet including tubex worms and skinned peas. i just started that how long would that take to effect constipation(if it works). i give them a 30% water change twice a weak w/ a syphon filter and i clean the tank w/ a razor scraper(is there any solution to clean the tank w/ thats not poisonous to the fish?). i have now isolated the infected fish until he gets better. i put him right next to the fish tank so he can see the other fish. thank you for reading my 9000 questions, ed

Answer
Are you using those little strips? If so, stop. Use the little vials that require you take some water out of the tank. It is more accurate and easier to read. Constipation could be a side effect from the ich treatment. It should be working though. I find that cucumber, zucchini, or orange slices (not the orange peels) work wonders.
You are cleaning the tank too often. A 25% water change should be done once a month not twice a week. I would just use a scrub pad (or scouring pad. I can't remember the name) to clean everything safely. A once a month gravel cleaning will also do wonders.
