ANSWER: Krithika,
It sounds like your fish is suffering from swim bladder disease. Fast him for 2 days, on the third day feed him a shelled cooked pea cut into bite size pieces, then fast again for 2 days. Once a week, feed him the shelled cook pea. What size tank is he in? Does he have a filter? Does he have a heater and if so, what is the water temperature? How do you clean the tank? Why do you clean it every day? You should clean the tank once a week by removing 25% of the water replaced by clean conditioned water.

Answer
Krithika,
I would stop adding the salt to his tank. It really is not beneficial to him to have salt his water all the time. Most of us fish keepers use salt only when the fish are sick or injured. The tank filter needs to be running at all times. I would turn it on and leave it running. However, if you do this, your filter will go through the cycle process and that can make the fish sick and possibly die. I would put him in your hospital tank while the other tank is going through the cycle process. This can take up to 6 weeks to complete. It is best to get a gravel vacuum and clean the gravel once a week and remove 25% of the water replacing it with clean conditioned water. The flowerhorn is a tropical fish and needs the heater running at all times. His water temperature needs to be between 80 and 85 degrees.  Try feeding him pellet food that sinks. This will possibly help him not to gulp air while eating. One reason the fish is sick is the lack of heater. Without one, they will stress, get sick, and possibly die.
