What kind of fish do you recommend?

Question
Hi, I am writing to ask what kind of fish do you recommend? We bought 1 guppy and 2 mollies about 3 weeks ago and we just bought 5 neons on Sunday and so far 1 has died everyday. I am wondering what kinds of fish you think that we should buy next? We cleaned the tank on Sunday and already there is alot of stuff at the bottom of the tank. It looks like food that has gone bad and is fuzzy. At first we thought that it was eggs but then upon researching it we found out that mollies are live bearers. So I what kind of bottom feeder do you think we should get. Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi Tracy,
If the food floats to the bottom and goes fuzzy it means you are overfeeding. Bottom feeders will eat uneaten food on the bottom of the substrate however overfeeding can cause bad water quality. I would recommend cory cats, although they need a fine substrate otherwise they will damage their barbels. They like to be in groups of five or more. They are very active and hardy. Neons are very senstive to bad water quality and also difficult to acclimitize. How long has your tank been set up for? Neons like a matured set up as this gives stable ph.

Chloe.
