Question
I recently added 2 Sunburst Wag Platys to my tank which already had about 5 Tetras, 2 Guppies, and an algae eater. They both seemed to be fine, however, today I noticed one of them just swimming around the bottom of the tank and not really coming to the top like it normally does. It just swims around the coral at the bottom as if it were trying to hide. What could be wrong with it. I'm not sure if I have a male and female or what.

Answer
Hi Stephanie:  A couple of things may be at work here... one you may have a female that is looking for a spot to give birth or you may have a fish that is being picked on by the others... Guppies can be aggressive toward new tank mates.  Keep your eye on the platy and if  you do not see any improvement in the next day let me know... also...pay very close attention to the tank ornaments or plants because if it did have babies... they give birth to live young and do not lay eggs... the babies will be hiding in the ornaments and plants.... dave
