fungus or ick?

Question
I have a 14 gallon and a 20 gallon freshwater tank. In my 14 gallon tank I have a small female Molly. On her left side there is what appears to be a small white patch of some sort. It is very small and doesn't seem to protrude out very much so it is hard to detect what it is. I don't know if its ick or a fungus or what not. When I originally saw it a few days ago I gently netted her to examine it closer but I think the majority of the white thing that I thought I saw on her was was floating in the net separate from her. I never noticed until earlier that her tail fin looks like its been getting nipped at a lot. She lives with 2 other Mollies and 3 Tiger, Gold and Odessa Barbs, a small paradise gourami  and 2 corys so maybe the Barbs are the culprits for her tail fin? I hope its not fin rot or anything but her other fins and every other fish in the tank is fine. I just went out and bought some jungle labs fungus clear and ick tablets and was wondering if they would help. Also in my 20 gallon I looked at a Glowlight Neon and noticed there was a white spot on her tail fin. I thought it was ick (sigh) but than the next day very small white almost cottony patches appeared on the heads(like on their lip it seems) of a rummy nose and a rasbora. So now im thinking it was a fungus and not ick that is on that neon as it spread so fast in a day... well anyways I don't know what to do as I'm not sure what to treat for. Any information would be appreciated.

Answer
Hi Michael,
Sounds like fungus. Ick typically shows up as white spots all over as if the fish had been sprinkled with salt.

For the sick little fish. I'd use the Fungus Clear (I've had wonderful success with this med many times before) and change 50% of the water everyday and redose the med every time. This is against the med's directions but it has always worked best. Clean water is very important for helping the fish recover.

Sometimes a single white spot can be a site of injury on the fish that will disappear on their own after a day or so.

I really hope this helps!
Karen~
