Question
Stephanie,

I have a large tank that has a leak, where the two pieces of glass come together.  What is the proper way to fix and what product to use so as not to hurt the fish.

Answer
Hello,

Unfortunately there is not much you can do that would not be an immediate trouble to your fish. The only way you can fix it is with silicone. You would need to drain your tank, remove all fish and ornaments and then apply silicone to the leak. Silicone takes a week to cure, so your fish would need another home until then. It may be better to get a new tank. If the one you have has a warantee you may be able to exchange it. If not, you may want to buy a new tank, repair your old one then sell it second hand. There isn't really a safe place to keep your fish while the tank cures except another properly equipped tank.

I hope this helps.

Good-luck,
From Stephanie
