Question
my balloon molly had babies yesterday(yay!) and i've put the mom in a separate tank. Is there anything I can feed to the fry? Also, they seemed to make 4-fish-schools. just some info

Answer
Hi Jake;

Congratulations! I hope they are still doing well.

The babies don't need any special food. Just crumble up some regular fish food very small and feed two or three times a day. You can put a couple of pinches in a plastic bag and crush it up into a powder to use for a long time. To feed, touch the end of a toothpick to the powdered food and then touch it to the water in your baby tank. They don't need very much. Once the toothpick gets wet, throw it away. You don't want any moisture in the plastic bag with the food from a wet toothpick.

Baby fish like live plants too. The microscopic organisms they will find on them help their growth and vitality. They will eat the plants too and that is also healthy.

Schooling is a also a very healthy behavior. It means they are aware of their surroundings and are trying to get settled in. Make plenty of water changes (25% at least once a week) and keep any excess food and waste siphoned off the bottom of the tank so the babies will stay healthy.

Have fun!
