undergravel filter

Question
hi,
i am setting up a 55gallon freshwater aquarium. I bought the undergravel filter, and have a question about that. It came in 4 different sections. Each with a round plastc tube with a irstone inside, and carbon. Anyway, do i HAVE to connect all 4 'plates'? Or can i just push them together on the bottom of the tank? I am not sure how to connect them (awful instructions) And do not want to risk breaking it

overall, is it ok if i push the pieces together, and not physically attach them?
thank you

Answer
Hi Andrew,
I believe there should be a way to hook them together. If you bought the filter at a bricks and  mortar shop, ask the clerks there for help. They usually know all about the products they sell. Or, contact the company that made it. Sorry I can't answer that specific question more fully.
Here is my easy care aquarium instruction page that might help you in setting up your tank. I recommend bottled water (unless your tap water is pure) and condition the water with Cycle (organic biology).
