i have just set up a tropical fish tank, 65 litres, it has been standing with no fish in for two weeks now, lovely clear water, tested the ph it was to high, went down my local tropical fish shop who sold me a ph balencer for oscars at a ph of 7.5,
put the messured amount in and waited two more days, since then my water has gone cloudy and has stood three more days waiting for it to clear to no avail, what should i do next,
1, partial water change and go through it again, 2,wait untill the weekend four more days or what?

Answer
Hi John,

First I have say that I'm not a fan of mucking with the pH.  It's very hard to do successfully and unless your pH is very, very high your fish will be fine.

Here is a good article on cloudy water:  http://www.aquaria.info/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=377

To start your nitrogen cycle you'll have to add an ammonia source, and most people do this by adding 1-2 fish to the tank.
