guppy and gourami compatibilty

hiya karen,
just wondering what kind of gourami woudl be suitable with guppies? i have a 40 gallon tank and about 35 guppies in there. preferably a smaller size gourami woudl be nice. also how many?

Hi Adrian,
Well, a dwarf gourami would be ideal. They stay small of course, are hardy and very pretty. They get along well with most smaller fish and should do well with guppies. Sometimes its tricky to keep more than one male together but since you have a large tank you might could keep a group of four but with lots plants to break up the line of sight and territory markers.

Either that, or keep a pair (male and female) which usually works out well.
