Question
How do I tell whether my fish has chronic dropsy or is just constipated? If it has chronic dropsy will it be interested in eating? My fish is a fancy guppy. Thank you.

Answer
Hello,

If your fish had dropsy, here are some symptoms you will notice:

Loss of appetite, lethargic, raised scales and swollen abdomen, bulging eyes.

The main symptom of dropsy is the raised scale and swollen abdomen. This gives them a pine cone like shape. Be very watchful of your fish. If it is dropsy then treat it as soon as possible. Dropsy affects internal organs, so it doesn't take it long to kill a fish.

I hope this helps, and that your fish doesn't have dropsy.

Good-luck,
Stephanie
