Tank cycling

Question
I  have a new 90 gallon aquarium. I had to put my fish in it before the aquarium had a chance to cycle. The old tank cracked (accident) so franticly ran to the pet store and was able to get a new one and save my fish. The only thing is I lost my gravel because there was glass in it and I thought it was unsafe so  I tossed it. With new gravel and the tank trying to recycle how often should I do 50% water changes so the nitrates and ammonia levels don't get too high.  I also bought the bacterial stuff that is suppose to help the tank cycle quicker.

Answer
Rebecca,
The stuff you bought to help cycle the tank does not work and only adds things to the water that you do not want. You will have to test your water daily, and do the water changes depending on the levels, remembering to not do more than 50% to prevent stress in the fish. It is times like this when your hospital tank would have come in handy to hold the fish until the other tank cycles. Keep an eye on the fish because you will start having problems very soon.
