convict with other fish again

Question
i havent got convicts yet but would it be a good idea 2 have 1 male convict instead of a pair and have a variety of other cichlids in ther like a firemouth? and maybe a keyhole?(in a 25gal)
would the male still be aggresive towards them anyway?

You will still run the chance of a breeding pair forming and then they will become more aggressive. South American Cichlids tend to be a bit larger as adults so you will want to do some research for full possible length before you buy so you do not create a hostil fish enviroment, as too many will create territorial issues amongst the fish.
