Question
I have an 48 inch by 25 inch tank and didn't install a background when I started my tank..  Is there a way of putting a background behind the tank without having to drain and move the tank.  I don't really have much space between the tank and the wall, maybe about 2-3 inches.

Answer
Hi Shannon,

I only have about this much space behind my walls and my aquariums myself. It isn't hard to install a background, but it is *way* easier if you can get someone to hold the other end. Have some tape handy!

Use the dimensions you provided to cut the background to just the right size, 4 feet in length. (Usually the pet stores give you a little extra in case you mess up.) Then get someone to hold one end while you go to the other side and hold the other. Lift the background up over the aquarium, and then down behind it. Make sure if you have a hang-on back filter or two, that you slide the background behind it. Now tape up your side, and pass the tape to your helper. Don't put the background underneath the trim of the tank, this might wick away moisture. Instead, put the top of the background just below the trim. Ta-da!

I hope that helps, take care.
