Vacation Food

Question
Do you know of a feeding block that has nutritional value and is attractive to most fresh water fish? All I'm finding are plaster blocks with no nutritional value and the gel packs from Tetra that my fish won't touch. I remember Tetra having some that looked like little logs, but I haven't been able to find them lately. Thank you for sharing your expertise.

Answer
Hi Herb;

I haven't seen those vacation sticks for years and looking at Tetra's site it appears they don't make them anymore. The best way to feed fish while on vacation is to have someone come to your house every day or every other day. Every other day feedings are fine because most of us overfeed anyway. Or, if you aren't going to be gone longer than 3 days, leave them alone. They will not starve, because healthy fish can actually go for several days with no food at all and be just fine. If you have aggressive fish it might be different but most community fish do quite well being "fasted" for a short time.
