Hello, I have an albino axolotl and some time this afternoon something randomly appeared in his tank. Ive only had it a couple of days and there has appeared this white thing that looks exactly like a cocoon, about one and a half centimetres long and quite fat. I've never seen a picture that looks like this on an axolotl egg site. its wound quite tightly around a rock. Any ideas? Thanks for your time

Hi Anavrin;

If it looks fuzzy it is decaying excess food or waste and that is infected with saprolegnia, which is a kind of fungus. Remove it and make sure all leftovers are cleaned out in the future to avoid it. You don't want that to infect your little friend too, which it can.
