Question
i have 2 pregnant Mollies have put a smaller tank inside big tank to separate them from other fish as other babies have died is this best and should i remove mothers when babies are born till they are big enough to fend for themselves ??

Answer
Hi Theresah,
The smaller container is OK. But it often stresses and makes the mother molly feel trapped and scared and not do very well. But this depends on the individual fish. Some are calmer than others. Simply observe your mollies, if they seem do be doing well -- Just leave them in there until they've delivered their babies. Then remove the mother mollies and allow the babies time (at least several weeks) to gain enough size until they can be released into the main aquarium safely.

The fry can be fed finely crushed flake food by the way.

I do hope this helps and best of luck!
