Question
i'm not sure what is going on...i've had fish for number of years and have never experienced my water going orange...not so much the water its self, but there is definately orange residue on the ornaments in the tank??? i've cleaned it, switched the water, changed filters everything i can think of.  can u help? yes i have been using the aqua safe, and using only basic fish food, nothing different than ever before...hmmmmm....thnxs

Answer
Well, my first thought would be that one of the decorations or the gravel has the residue coming from it and it needs to be completely cleaned and rinsed. Maybe if you have light gravel or even colored gravel, sometimes it may seem clean but in fact is still carrying the residue which will color the water. For example, I bought some drift wood once and washed it but as soon as I had it in the water for one day the water turned brown, not from algae. The water was  colored from the dift wood. I would take out everything that has any color, even neutral, and was it again. Other than a decor item causeing it, I have no idea if you have not changed anything else. I hope this helps.
