Question
Hi,
I have a 29 gallon planted tropical freshwater tank with 9 zebra danio, an albino bristlenosed pleco, and 2 male rams.

I think i want to add 2 anglefish, but i am scared they will outgrow my tank, and i am not prepared to rehouse them. i also want to add several dwarf gouramis, but i dont want to overstock my tank. I also LOVE boseman rainbowfish, but is my tank to small/short for them? and would a paradise fish be to aggressive to go with gourami?

Thanks,
Mike

Answer
Hi Mike,

Actually, a 29 gallon is perfectly fine for a pair of angels. They will not outgrow the tank and should do quite well with the other species you currently house. I would be cautious with adding too many dwarf gouramis, a male and female pair might work better but it can be difficult to find the dull-colored females. More than a couple of males might have territorial disputes. Paradise fish might indeed have conflicts with the gourami, but it can be greatly lessened if the two are added at the same time to the tank and there is plenty of plant cover and nooks and crannies for the fish to retreat to if they wish.

Boseman Rainbowfish are real beauties. But keeping a decent-sized group of them (at least 6 or more) might be pushing it a bit along with the other fish already present. Maybe you could go for the smaller neon dwarf rainbowfish instead. Try reading up on these brilliantly shiny blue fish.

Best of luck and I hope this helps!
