Selling size

Question
Hi, I have over 100 baby Jack Dempseys which are approx 1/2inch long.  I am wondering at what size I could bring them to a pet store.  When I called to see if they would accept them they told me to bring them in when they are selling size.  Before they developed I thought selling size was when you can actually see that they are Jack Dempseys.  They have the features, can eat any type of flakes, and are capable of living on their own.  Will a pet store accept them as 1/2inch long? If so, how do I bring so many fish to the pet store?

Answer
Hi Peter;

Call them back and ask them what they mean by "selling size". It really depends on the store.

To move them, get a large clean plastic bucket with a handle and line it with a plastic bag. Put about six inches of tank water in the bag and gently net the fish into it. Leave the rest of the bag as air and seal it off. You can carry it easily to the store this way, catches possible leaks and it is less likely to tip over on the car ride there. Make sure when you bag them that you leave right away. No Other Stops! You don't want them in the bag any longer than necessary. Open the bag and freshen the air every half hour if the whole trip takes longer than that.

Followups welcome
