Question
Hi I bought a Flowerhorn 1 month ago. It was fine until 2 days ago,Suddenly it became dull and Its hump started to shrink and I can see few white spots on his head. I added salt and raised temp to 82F and after 2 days I still see his head shrinking. But while feeding he is active and just stays at a place after that. I also have given him medication for ich 1 week ago he was fine then and later he started becoming dull.Is this the effect of water quality or Ammonia? I doubt that is HITH. Can you please help me

Answer
Sravan,
Are you testing the water for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates? The first thing I would do is test the water. Your flowerhorn is stressing and usually that means a water issue. Once you test, you will do a water change, and the size will depend of what the readings are. If the levels are low then you will do a 25% water change daily until both the ammonia and nitrites are at zero. If the levels are high, do a 50% water change. Make sure you are not over feeding and that you are removing any food they do not eat in 2 minutes time. Also, remember to do water changes every week to help maintain good water quality.
